The simple truth is that you deserve joy in every aspect of your life.
Yes, that includes work!
hey friend!
I'm India Pierce-Jackson, an entrepreneur, educator, and consultant who helps others boldly pursue joy. I spent more years than I like to admit succumbing to the pressure to overwork and navigate inefficient and inequitable workplaces. This led to burnout, feeling unsupported, and resentment. That culture was so ingrained in me that even after building my own businesses, I still operated from a place of scarcity and urgency.
Some people think that joy is the reward that we get only after long hard work, but not me! I help my clients to see that intentionally working towards joy is its own liberation practice.
I needed a drastic shift, I didn't want to operate from a place of unbalance. I didn’t want a life of constantly waiting. Waiting until Friday, until summer, until after this client or project. I wanted to relish in the now, in wonder... I needed a life built upon joy.
So I decided to align my professional work with the vision I have for my personal life. I believe that our work should be nourishing, not merely extractive. That simple belief would go on to drastically change my life and my consulting practice.
Quick Professional Facts
Soon you can call me Doc. I'm finishing a PhD in Ethnic Studies and Critical Gender Studies. Teaching at the collegiate level has greatly informed my approach.
I have over a decade of experience working on various facets of organizational culture and equity. As such I have expertise in process improvement, curriculum building & facilitation, coaching and personal development, strategic planning, and leading difficult conversations with diverse stakeholders.
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients from CEOs and creative business owners (everything from photographers to event planners), to nonprofits, and political groups.
Prior to my current consulting practice, I co-founded Moxie Consultancy Collective, a queer and women led practice dedicated to racial justice and cultures of care.
I don’t just encourage others to boldly chase joy, I live it. I created Omi Picnics, a luxury picnic company. Totally different from my other work, Omi has been a wonderful way of inviting joy and connection into my life.
WORDS TO LIVE BY
I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.
